FAQs

The information below should answer the majority of your questions about New Media Social. If you have other questions, please email us at via our Feedback Form and we will include the answers to this page.

What are the FORUM RULES?

Basically we want you to respect the forum in order to allow such an open platform. PLEASE DO NOT RECRUIT VIA THE FORUM AND WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE REPORT VIOLATORS via our FORM if you are solicited with emails and details!!!! We have several companies that use the forum and we want to uphold the integrity and trust of those who are perfectly happy with their current position and will seek out jobs when they are looking on the board. Our postings are low cost and you can search our database for free (only pay per interested contact) so please use those avenues if you are looking to fill a position. We have provided such an open platform to expand the knowledge base in this fast growing industry. Please note YOU WILL BE REMOVED FOR RECRUITING, PROMOTING JOBS OR JOB EVENTS FOR SPAMMING (we check everyone out on the web and via the Stop Forum Spam) on the site without an ad or sponsorship so we can put it in the proper place. For liability purposes, please also do not post a VIDEO RESUME on the video page. Instead, please post a resume on the job board where you are welcome to provide a link to your video.

Where do my jobs show up when I post?

Several places! First check out our free standard cross posting and the additional solutions we have for getting your jobs seen.

What do I get as a Member?

As a member of New Media Social, you have access to so much! Jobs can be seen by both members and non member but as a member you can participate in discussions, join a group of your specialty and communicate with them and share ideas, have access to news within 17 different categories, have YOUR OWN BLOG, upload pictures from your computer or Flickr and video from YouTube or other sources, access to educational resources, career resources, career articles and participate in polls.

Why do we monitor the Videos and Photos and not everything else?

We would like our users to have access to information in real time and in turn will encourage those to participate being that we are all adults HOWEVER the impact of someone posting an inappropriate video or picture is something we cannot take a chance on.

Why does New Media Social look different on Explorer vs other browsers?

We are working on some of these issues. Each browser interprets information differently. So far there have not been any issues with functionality. Some scrolling my look different in Firefox (skipping) but all other browsers should be a go. If you have experienced other issues, please send us a very detailed account of the ocurrence.

I have a great suggestion for a Poll I would like to see posted that I think everyone would benefit from. How do I let you know?

Easy, just email us via the Feedback form. Be sure to include your email.

Can I post an Event, how do I do that?

Yes you can. We want to uphold the integrity of our site and this is just one of the checks and balances. If you set up an Event that is not relevant to the site, we will have to remove it immediately . We have no problems with seminars, conventions, special training etc. Just do not post straight promotional events.

I am so excited to have started my own blog on your site! Are the blogs distributed?

YES! Your blog will get plenty of publicity. There an RSS feed available that combines all of the blogs . We submit that one feed that will also include your blog as well. You can also monitor comments on your own blog as well as set who can view your blog and the date you would like your blog postings to publish. WE HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU MONITOR YOUR COMMENTS! You have the option to approve comments before they appear, be sure you turn this ON to alleviate unnecessary posts.

As a JobSeeker, you have free resume search, does this mean everyone will see my information?

NO! The employers and recruiters can see your resume BUT NOT YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION. We don't want to compromise your personal information. They will have to contact you if they feel you are a serious candidate for the position they are seeking to fill. If you wish to pursue the opportunity, you return the contact they made with your information. This shows that you are serious and they consider you a viable candidate.

I am an employer and you say I have free resume access but I can't contact anyone without logging in?

You are correct. With internet security being a huge issue and break ins into some of the largest job boards, we wanted to protect our job seekers. This also gives job seekers the security to post their resumes to give you a better selection and those of higher quality.

Why do I have to log in to get into the site?

You DO NOT have to log into the site to view, post or search jobs nor to apply to jobs. The reason we have you log in to access the additional information and participate in discussions is to keep those who are serious about participating and who can add value and give those trying to learn and gain a bit more valid content.

I would like to use FaceBook, Twitter and Flickr with New Media Social. Can I do that?

Yes you can! When you upload photos anywhere on the site, Flickr is one of the options or you can upload from your computer. To use Twitter, Flickr and FaceBook, you must have accounts with those sites first. You can use FaceBook for Video and Photos that you want to share from New Media Social. Videos embedded from YouTube or Google Video can’t play in our network’s Facebook application or in our network’s branded video player widget. This is because these videos are already branded, and we can’t overwrite that with our network’s logo. We think this encourages people to upload unique videos to our network that can’t be found anywhere else, giving our network that something special to keep members coming back!
