With that said, I was reading a pretty insightful article on the Harvard Business Review site that was discussing why Facebook did not attend the Online Publishers Summit. It was a high powered gathering of the top C-Levels in the industry. Why wasn't Facebook there?… Continue

We have all heard about the shutdown of many websites and most recently MegaUpload overseas but do you think that the US Government is really coming for US web businesses? Do you think this just for the more "edgy" businesses?
See here from TechDirt.com:

Our abhorrence for calculation enables us to mutually agree on statistically dubious metrics with nary a shrug or arched eyebrow. Consider Nielsen ratings, which are used to determine the popularity of all TV shows and, consequently, how the dozens of billions of dollars in TV advertising is apportioned.
Nielsen ratings have a direct impact on hundreds of thousands of people in the United States. In 2009, there were 1,147,910 households with a TV in… Continue

I know we're not supposed to say it out loud, but a lot of CMOs and agency types think that advertising is going the way of the dinosaur, the Model T and conversation without emoticons. Consumers want to engage with content instead of get interrupted by ads, or so the logic goes, so we celebrate social campaigns like the recent one from Old Spice, and find favor only for commercials that are entertaining. Making a sales pitch just isn't credible anymore.
Now that we're well into the… Continue

Automated sentiment scoring has evolved as the feature du jour of the social media monitoring platforms of late. So many services were offering it, even big players like Radian6 had to bring it to the table for fear of losing prospects. It’s not enough to tell brands how many conversations are being had. Social media monitoring services have to now must report on whether or not… Continue
