Many times small business want to build a website and may not have funds to build an elaborate site to draw attention their businesses. It can become expensive when you want make changes or incorporate additional information about your company.

Below are several sites you can use on your own. on your own. You don't need to be a professional programmer or have taken online web design classes to learn how to use these sites to promote your business. You can always pay a website developer at a later date when you are ready for a more elaborate site, but you may not need it, as the features with some of these services may fit your purpose long term.

Note to those using the free versions, it is important to retain your own customized domain which most charge only a tiny bit for, so you do not have the company name as part of your domain.

Last, when using free online website building, there are limitations, but many can be overcome by paying a small fee to add features to your site. If you want to add more design to your site you can always use these Free Online Web Based Tools.

Weebly -  It's free to use and you can do it ALL yourself. It has drag and drop (oh how we love drag and drop), hosting, hundreds of themes, blogging, multi media, photo galleries, slideshows, stats, form builders and more. I would definitely take a look at this.

Wordpress - Now. This is not for the weak at heart. It's not the most user friendly if you are starting out. For those who do not want to host your own site, then go to this site. Not to be confused with Wordpress.org where you have to download the software and host. It is more of a blogging platform but many use it as their main website due to all of the features it has. This Wordpress has literally thousands of plug ins, themes, stats, blogging, spam killer features, you can have members and widgets, several languages and more.

Webs - The free version is limited so you need additional features, you will have to pay for. It has over 300 templates, mobile version, analytics, social networking, blogs, forums, photos, videos, ecommerce options, and more.

Wix - Another drag and drop, programming free website builder. The company site is a bit cumbersome as each page loads but the websites look great. It's also difficult to locate the features but I found them elsewhere. From what I gathered you can create flash websites, it has blogging, social features, facebook pages, mobile site creation, photos, videos, music, calendars, forms, it has graphics you can use and much more.

DoodleKit- Another hosted, no coding website builder for you to try. Many layouts and designs, multi language support, form tool, ecommerce, file uploads, blog, photos and images, RSS feeds and forums.
